Time: Summer of 2007
Concept : The book consists of critical interviews and thoughts on process of painting. Notions of current cultural references through history were discussed through many evoking and inspiring conversation created by the curator, Ragan Cunningham. Works by Kanishka Raja, Layla Ali, Kevin Appel, Judith Eisler, with influences such as Philip Guston, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Carrol Dunham, amongst others were presented here as a reflection in parallel with the content of their paintings.
Design: The conception of the logo, and content was already conceived by the museum. The job now was to take the concept and carry it out as a metaphor through out the book. Use of simple abstract shapes and lines were composed and carried through out, which created a movement of shapes, lines and space. Tradional and Modern use of typefaces were choosen for the display and body copy.
Fonts: Helvetica Neue, Unibody
Printing: 5 color process, along with Spot Varnish for the logo on cover.
